Regional Police Officer Accused Of Domestic Assault

The province’s police watchdog is investigating domestic violence claims made against a male Cape Breton Regional Police officer.

The Serious Incident Response Team says Regional Police got a complaint from a woman early Sunday morning that her husband who’s an officer on the force assaulted her.

The SIRT was then contacted by Regional Police and it says it’s started an investigation.

The SIRT has to file a public report on the result of the investigation within three months after it’s finished.
