Regional Councillors Vote To Scrap Their Travel Allowance

Regional Councillors have voted unanimously to get rid of their travel allowance.

Under the allowance, councillors could claim a flat fee of 140 dollars a week, regardless of their amount of travel.

Councillors will now get reimbursed for the actual travel they do on municipal business.

The vote took place during yesterday’s general committee meeting of Council at City Hall in Sydney.
