Regional Council Votes To Extend SHIP Contract

Regional Council voted 11-2 at last night’s meeting to give a three year extension to the group given exclusive rights to market Sydney as a potential container terminal site.

The current deal with Sydney Harbour Investment Partners or SHIP runs until December.

Council debated whether to give the full three years, or revisit the deal after an 18 month extension.

Deputy Mayor Earlene MacMullin and District 6 Councillor Glen Paruch voted against the three year term.
