Regional Council voted 10-3 at last night’s meeting not to extend an agreement with Harbour Royale Development Limited to develop the Sydney waterfront.
A new central library was a main focus of the plan.
But council has voted against funding a feasibility study for a new library.
Mayor Amanda McDougall has said in the past the library project is not dead.
But she also says the federal and provincial governments are not as interested in funding a library as other projects.
Councillors Eldon MacDonald, Steve Parsons and James Edwards vote in favour of extending the agreement with Harbour Royale.
