Regional Council Discussing Contract Negotiations In-Camera Today

Regional Council is meeting in-camera this afternoon to discuss contract negotiations.

Today’s meeting comes with word last week contract talks with the union representing outside workers had stalled.

CUPE local 759 represents about 300 workers in transit, public works, water and wastewater management, parks and grounds, building maintenance, and janitorial services.

The union says the main outstanding issues are changes to wages, improvements to contract language on grievances, and bereavement and parental leave.

Council is holding a public meeting at 1:00 and will go in-camera to discuss contract negotiations immediately afterward.
