Regional Council Asks Staff To Prepare Mandatory Vaccine Policy For Municipal Workers

Regional Council voted unanimously at last night’s meeting to ask staff to prepare a policy on mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations.

Chief administrative officer Marie Walsh says the municipality’s current protocol requires all staff who are not fully vaccinated to continue to wear masks and be tested every three days.

Walsh says only 36 of the municipality’s 800-plus employees are not vaccinated and that includes six workers each in police services and fire services.

Mayor Amanda McDougall says Council will hold a special meeting once staff finishes the issue paper on mandatory vaccinations.
