RCMP Officer Facing Assault Charges

The province’s police watchdog says an RCMP member is due in Sydney Provincial Court on May 17th.

The Serious Incident Response Team says it was contacted by the RCMP after the Mounties got a complaint about an assault that happened on January 26th.

The SIRT says 41 year-old Constable Aaron Brown has been charged with two counts of assault after its investigation.

It says its investigation included a statement from the affected person, statements from eight police officers and five civilian witnesses.

It says the notes of three police officers and a video were also reviewed and considered.
