RCMP Issue Warning After Suspected Overdose Deaths

An Emergency Alert has been issued in Cumberland County after two people died in Springhill from suspected overdoses.

RCMP say a 31-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were found dead at two separate homes in the community this morning.

The say at one of the homes officers seized a small amount of unknown substances in pill and powder form, along with drug paraphernalia.

Police are continuing to warn about the dangers of unknown substances that may be in street drugs and they advise people to call 911 immediately if they see signs of an overdose.

They say naloxone is a temporary antidote for opioid overdoses but they add people can fall back into the overdose within 30 minutes if they’re not taken to hospital.
