Rancourt Sentenced to Two Years

The former children’s entertainer known as Klutzy the Clown has been given a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexual assault and breaching a court order.

51 year-old Dale Rancourt was facing charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation, and two counts of sexual interference involving a 15 year-old girl as his trial was set to begin last month.

He was also was facing four counts of breaching his bail conditions.

However, the Crown withdrew the other charges in exchange for the guilty pleas.

In an agreed statement of facts, the court heard Rancourt was in a sexual relationship with the girl.
Rancourt told reporters he was terribly remorseful for his actions.

His prison sentence comes in addition to the seven months he’s already spent in custody, and he’ll also be required to serve 2 years’ probation.
