Rancourt Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

The local children’s entertainer known as Klutzy the Clown has pleaded guilty to sexual assault and breaching a court order by being in an area where children under 18 gather in Sydney court, this morning.

51 year-old Dale Rancourt was facing charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation, and two counts of sexual interference involving a 15 year-old girl as his trial was set to begin.

He was also was facing four counts of breaching his bail conditions.

The Crown withdrew the other charges in exchange for the guilty pleas.

In agreed statement of facts, the court heard Rancourt was in a sexual relationship with the girl.

He told reporters outside the courtroom he’s terribly remorseful as sheriffs led him inside.

He’s due to be sentenced on May 31st and the Crown says it will be looking for federal prison time for Rancourt.
