Public Works Says It’s Making Progress On Flood Repairs

The provincial Department of Public Works says nearly 500 sections of damaged paved and gravel roads and 60 road shoulders have been repaired after being damaged in last weekend’s record storm and severe flooding.

It says crews have also replaced 62 culverts.

There are still about 20 provincial road closures, down from nearly 60 on Saturday.

Nineteen bridges that needed minor repairs have reopened.

However, the Department says there are 29 bridges that need more extensive repairs with some of them open with precautions such as weight limits.

Another seven bridges need to be replaced.
