Public Health has issued new guidelines on using swabs for rapid COVID-19 tests.
It says it now recommends people swab both their throat and nose when collecting their sample.
It says researchers in the province have determined collecting samples from both the throat and nose provides a more accurate rapid test result than a nose swab alone.
Using a nose swab alone is the instruction provided by the manufacturer.
Public Health says Nova Scotia is the first to report research results supporting both swabbing the throat and nose.
