Provinces Announces Tourism Funding

The province has announced an $18.2 million restart package for the tourism sector.

It says the Tourism Accommodations Restart Customer Attraction Program will help businesses with marketing to encourage overnight stays.

Eligible businesses will get a grant of $1000 per room for the first 10 rooms and $500 per room for each additional room.

The Small Tourism Operators Restart Program will offer a one-time, $5,000 grant for tourism businesses that were affected by COVID-19 restrictions but were not eligible for earlier provincial programs.

The province says the grant will help with advertising and other restart costs such as buying personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies.

The province will also invest another $3 million this year in its tourism marketing campaigns and it’s offering free admission to provincial museums in July and August.
