Province Reports COVID-19 Death, 678 Cases, State of Emergency Extension

The province is reporting another COVID-19 death and 678 new cases of the virus today and it’s extending its State of Emergency.

Health officials say the person who died was a woman in her 80’s in the Central Zone.

Of the cases reported today, 394 are in the Central Zone, with 108 in the Eastern Zone, 79 in the Western Zone and 97 in the Northern Zone.

There are now 164 people in the province in hospital with COVID, including 48 admitted because of the virus.

32 people were admitted to hospital for other reasons but tested positive for COVID after being admitted.

64 people contracted the virus because of hospital outbreaks.

Seven people in the province are being treated in intensive care with the virus.

The province’s COVID-19 State of Emergency is being extended to January 23rd
