Province Releases Public Accounts For 2020-21

The province is reporting a deficit of $341.6 million for the fiscal year that ended on March 31st.

Finance Minister Allan MacMaster released the public accounts for the last fiscal year today.

He says the shortfall reflects the former Liberal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, MacMaster says that won’t change the course the Progressive Conservative government has set, including its promises on healthcare.

MacMaster says net debt at yearend was $16.4 billion.

The net debt to GDP ratio for 2020-21 was 36 per cent.
