The province says it’s making improvements to provincial parks this summer.
It says a total of 40 parks are getting improvements such as paved roads, natural playgrounds, washrooms, beach access and trail improvements as well as parking lot, water and septic upgrades.
Work being done at Cape Breton provincial parks includes 1.1 million dollars for a beach nourishment pilot project and coastal monitoring program at Dominion Beach.
The Mira River Park is getting a new natural playground at a cost of $250,000 and $200,000 is being spent on a new dump station at the Whycocomagh Park.
$100,000 is being spent on internet service improvements at all camping parks and $50,000 is going to new entrance signs at multiple day-use parks.
