Province Making Changes To Short-Term Rental Regulations

The Province says it’s making changes to how short-term rentals like Airbnbs are regulated in order to help make more long-term housing available.

The Province says it’s planning to introduce legislative amendments this fall that will allow higher registration fees for short-term accommodations.

Fees will be based on the size of the community where the accommodations are located and the Province says it will also increase fines for breaking registration rules.

It says fee changes will not affect traditional accommodations like hotels and motels.
