Province Looking To End Protest Injunction

The province says it’s moving to end an injunction granted against planned anti-lockdown protests last month.

The injunction was granted by a Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge on May 14th as demonstrations were being organized by groups in Halifax and Sydney.

Elected officials and health officials said at the time the gatherings posed a serious public health risk while COVID-19 cases were high.

The province says it’s asked the court to lift the injunction now that infections are easing and Phase 2 of the reopening plan is underway.

A hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Tuesday of next week
