Province, Health Workers Reach Tentative Deal

A tentative agreement has been reached between the province and three unions representing healthcare workers.

The Health Support Bargaining Unit includes a total of about 3,500 members represented by the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, CUPE and Unifor.

The NSGEU says the deal was reached early this morning with the Health Authority and the IWK.

It says the deal was reached with the help of a conciliator after talks held yesterday and for two days last month.

The union goes on to say the agreement includes what it’s calling a fair wage package, improvements in shift and weekend premiums and improvements in language and seniority protection.

The deal will be presented to members in the coming days.
