Premier Tim Houston announced measures this morning meant to help Nova Scotians deal with the rising cost of living.
Some of the 100-million dollars will go toward expanding eligibility for the Heating Assistance Rebate Program to households with an income of up to $85,000.
Applications for the expanded program will open on January 30th.
The rebate will increase this winter from $200 to $1,000 and people who already qualified for the program will automatically get the extra payment in the new year.
Another measure announced this morning is a one-time payment of $250 for all households getting income assistance.
And $3 million is going to food banks and organizations involved in food security while $2.6 million is ear-marked for 26 Family Resource Centres.
