Province Expands Access To Pfizer Bivalent Booster

The province says, starting today, parents and guardians can book Pfizer’s bivalent COVID-19 vaccine as a booster dose for children from five to 11 years-old.

For most children in the province, the recommended time between the last dose of the primary series and a booster dose is 168 days and the same applies to children who have had COVID.

However, there may be a shorter wait for some immunocompromised children.

At this time, only a single booster dose is recommended for children from five to 11 and those who have already had a booster with the original Pfizer vaccine are expected to be well protected.

However, children at high risk may be able to get a bivalent booster as well.

Also starting today, only bivalent vaccines will be available when booking booster doses for everyone five years-old and older.
