Province Expanding Patient Transfer Service

The province says it’s expanding the patient transfer service in an effort to to relieve pressure on paramedics.

The Progressive Conservative government says it will spend 3.1 million dollars a year to add 28 new non-paramedic drivers.

It says the move will free up paramedics now required to drive the vehicles that take patients between hospitals.

It says a new vehicle will be added to the medical transport service in Sydney this week.

The government says it’s also going to spend $1.9 million a year to operate an extra eight vans with the medical transport service fleet.
