Province Covering Cost Of ADHD and ASD Assessments

The province is going to pay for assessments for autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder for pre-school and school-age children through a new pilot program.

Private practice psychologists will take part in the 500-thousand dollar program through a fee-for-service model.

They’ll be contracted to complete diagnostic assessments for ASD and ADHD for children and adolescents on public wait lists for the services.

People on the wait list will be contacted as appointments become available.

The government says the number of assessments during the 12-month pilot will be determined by interest and uptake from private practice psychologists.
