The province says it’s carrying out a comprehensive review of the policing structure in Nova Scotia that will potentially recommend changes for how policing services are delivered.
The review is one of the recommendations from the Mass Casualty Commission on the 2020 mass shooting in the province.
The government says a request for proposals has been issued today for an external consultant to carry out the review.
It says the selected consultant will work closely with a police review advisory committee that will include people from what it calls equity-deserving groups, the provincial government, police agencies, subject matter experts and diverse community representatives.
The committee is co-chaired by retired Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge Clare MacLellan and the Justice Department’s Executive Director of Public Safety and Security Hayley Crichton.
