Province Bringing In New Travel Restrictions For Kids

New restrictions have been put in place for out-of-province travel for children 11 and under taking part in sports or arts and cultural events.

Kids in that age group are also being restricted from entering the province for those activities.

Both changes take effect immediately.

Chief Medical of Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says they’re seeing COVID-19 cases spreading through those types of events, and today’s changes are needed to protect children 11 and under as pediatric COVID-19 vaccines are only starting to roll out.

Strang says the new restrictions will stay in place at least until early next month and will be re-evaluated then.
