Province Appoints “Expert Advisory Panel” on Long-term Care

Health Minister Randy Delorey has appointed what he’s calling an expert advisory panel to look at ways to improve the quality of long-term care.

The panel has three members.

They are Janice Keefe, the chair and director of Mount Saint Vincent University’s Nova Scotia Centre on Aging.

Dr. Greg Archibald, who’s a wound care expert and head of Dalhousie University’s Department of Family Medicine.

And nurse practitioner Cheryl Smith who’s an educator on dementia care and the prescribing of multiple medications to one patient.

Their work will include making recommendations on improving care and appropriate staffing levels.

The panel has been asked to report back with recommendations by November 30th.
