Province Announces Funding For Fire Departments, Search and Rescue Groups

The province announced a total of $3.5 million today for volunteer fire departments, ground search and rescue groups and First Nations fire departments.

It says more than 340 organizations will each get a one-time grant of $10,000.

Premier Tim Houston says the money will help the groups recover after fundraising efforts were held back because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizations will not have to apply for the grant.
