Province Announces Funding For Baseball Fields Project

The province is committing $150,000 to upgrade two Sydney baseball fields to Little League Canada standards.

However, it says its funding depends on the approval of additional financing from the federal government in order for the project to be realized.

The Sydney Baseball Park Association wants to revitalize the Bernie MacNeil Memorial and MacCormack baseball fields.

The CBRM has committed $200,000 to the project while another $150,000 has been promised by the Jays Care Foundation along with $40,000 from corporate sponsors.

Earlier this month, the Ball Park Association issued a public plea for funding commitments from Ottawa and the province.
