Province Announces Doctor Recruitment Initiative

The province says doctors already living and working in Nova Scotia will now play a lead role in convincing other doctors to move here.

The six doctors will serve as what are being called MD recruitment leads, taking part in site visits and meeting with potential candidates to share their experiences of living and working in the province.

The province says the recruitment leads will also play a key role in helping new doctors set up practice and serve as a resource for them as they establish themselves in their new community.

Dr. Meaghan Keating will be the recruitment lead for the Health Authority’s Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

The initiative will cost about $376,000 in the current fiscal year.
