Province Announces Accessibility Grant Recipients

Eight groups in Cape Breton are among those getting provincial funding for accessibility upgrades.

The province announced a total of $1 million in funding today through its Community Accessibility Program.

The Westmount Volunteer Fire Department will be getting $40,000 of the funding, with about $39,800 for L’Arche Cape Breton and about $37,900 for the Jaycee Tracey Memorial Park in Glace Bay.

Other local recipients include the Ally Centre, Breton Ability Centre, Knox United Church, the Northern Yacht Club and the Town of Port Hawkesbury.

The province is also offering a Business Accessibility Grant that helps businesses make accessibility-related improvements for clients, customers and employees.

That’s open for applications until July 29th.
