Province Announces $14.3 Million For Schools During Pandemic

Education Minister Zach Churchill announced another 14.3 million dollars for schools during the pandemic, this morning.

The money comes from the federal Safe Return to Class Fund.

3.8 million dollars is going to install touchless water stations in every school and allow schools to move from bottled water.

The province is spending 2.7 million to inspect school ventilation systems throughout the school year.

$4.1 million will be used to pilot new online math and literacy programs.

$1.5 million is being set aside to buy personal protective equipment, including masks, hand sanitizer and other supplies.

And half a million dollars is being used to meet the increased demand for the School Healthy Eating Program.
