Property Tax Rebate Deadline Extended

The Regional Municipality says the deadline has been extended to January 31st for applications for the Low Income Property Tax rebate.

The rebate program provides a maximum yearly tax reduction of $225.

In order to apply, people have to live in the municipality and have legal title to the property and it must be assessed in their name, the property has to be their primary home and not a seasonal home, vacation home or income property, and their total household income for 2021 has to be less than the maximum under the Guaranteed Income Supplement Program.

For 2021, that maximum was $25,104.
