The price of diesel went up by 5.9 cents a litre overnight after the Utility and Review Board used its interrupter clause to adjust the price early this week.
A litre of diesel now goes for a minimum of $1.94.9 in Cape Breton.
The UARB says it made the move because of significant shifts in the market price of diesel oil.
Meanwhile, the price of gas didn’t change.
The minimum price for a litre of gas on the Island is still $1.64.8.
