Preston By-Election E-Ballots A First In Canada

Voters in the Preston by-election are casting the first e-ballots in Canada, today.

Elections Nova Scotia says early voting in the election is now being done using its new e-ballot system, after nominations closed, yesterday afternoon.

The independent agency says the system allows voters to select the candidate of their choice on a secure tablet behind the voting screen.

It says once a vote is cast, the system produces a paper voting receipt for the voter to place in the ballot box.

Elections NS says traditional paper ballots will be used on election day in Preston on August 8th.
