Premier Says No Cap On Chase The Ace Jackpots

Premier Stephen McNeil is trying to put an end to speculation the province plans to put limits on Chase the Ace jackpots.

Progressive Conservative MLA Eddie Orrell says he’s hearing a cap of 500-thousand dollars is being considered.

The Northside Westmount representative goes on to say the rumour is that Atlantic Lotto is concerned about the amount of revenue its losing because of Chase the Ace lotteries.

But McNeil says that’s not the case.

Meanwhile, Orrell says he’s not convinced by the Premier’s assurances after the minister responsible Mark Furey failed to give a definitive answer about a possible cap.

The jackpot in the Ashby Legion’s Chase the Ace Lottery is now at an estimated, record-setting 2.6 million dollars.

The next draw will take place on May 7th.
