Preliminary Hearing Today For Man Accused Of Murdering James Matthews

A preliminary hearing is due to start today for a New Waterford man charged with murdering North Sydney native James David Matthews.

28 year-old Aaron Shaun Young faces a count of second degree murder after Matthews’ body was found in his Sydney apartment in August of last year.

Young is also charged with theft and robbery with violence in the case.

The preliminary hearing was due to start in June but was postponed because Young got a new lawyer.

He’s also facing unrelated charges of armed robbery after thefts at a New Waterford convenience store and a bank machine.
