Preliminary Hearing For Berthiaume To Continue In June

A preliminary hearing for a Ben Eoin man accused in a fatal shooting in Reserve Mines will continue in June.

25 year-old Brandon James Berthiaume faces a count of first degree murder in the death of 25 year-old Brandon Kelly last June.

He also faces a charge of attempted murder after police said shots were fired at a man who was with Kelly at the time of the incident.

The hearing has already heard from a number of police witnesses and others but details from the proceeding are banned from publication.

It’s now due to resume on June 22nd.

Berthiaume is also facing charges of breaching court orders, assaulting a peace officer and mischief.

He’s due in court to enter pleas to those charges on May 4th.
