Pre-Trial Hearing Today In Cape Breton Native’s Murder Trial

A pre-trial hearing is taking place today in the case of a Cape Breton native accused of murdering off-duty Truro police officer Catherine Campbell.

The Crown wants to close the court to the public to discuss possible trial evidence in the case of Christopher Calvin Garnier.

Media outlets are in Halifax court to oppose the ban.

Garnier’s lawyer Joel Pink says he supports the media application to keep the process open.

Gariner’s trail on a count of second degree murder in Campbell’s death and another charge of indecently interfering with human remains is due to take place in November.

He’s been released on bail.
