Pre-trial Conference For Companies Charged After Fatal Sydney Fire

Two companies that face charges after the death of an international student in an apartment fire in Sydney in December of 2022 are due in court today for a pre-trial conference.

Ontario-based Hanover Storage and a numbered Nova Scotia company have pleaded not guilty to seven charges under the Fire Safety Act.

Rajesh Gollapudi’s father has filed a civil suit against the companies and two other renters at the Park Street duplex.

Meanwhile, the property owners have filed a counterclaim against the two renters, accusing them of a number of violations of their lease, including smoking on the property and improperly disposing of smoking materials.
