Possible Delay in Lobster Season

Harbour representatives in eastern Cape Breton will discuss whether to delay the opening of the lobster season with the Department of Fisheries, today.

The season in Area 27 from Bay St. Lawrence to Forchu is supposed to start on Saturday.

However, some fishermen say they’re not ready because their boats and their traps are still stuck in snow.

They blame the harsh winter and cold spring for the problem.

May the 10th is also about a week earlier than the traditional opening for the season in eastern Cape Breton.
