Port Hood Man Chooses Judge and Jury Trial In Hit And Run Case

A Port Hood man charged in connection with a hit and run accident in August has elected to be tried by a Supreme Court judge and jury.

27 year-old Tyson Alexander MacDonald is charged with failing stop at the scene of an accident and dangerous driving.

He was charged after a 65-year-old North Carolina man was struck while crossing the road in Port Hastings on August 5th.

The victim was taken to St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish and then airlifted to hospital in Halifax with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

MacDonald was arrested a few days after the incident and is now due back in court on February 22nd for a preliminary hearing on the charges.

He continues his release on conditions.
