Polish Church To Be Rebuilt In Whitney Pier

Builders will soon be getting to work on the site where St. Mary’s Polish Church once stood in Whitney Pier. The church was over a century old when it burned down on November 29th. Parish council President Tom Urbaniak says that they’re hoping to start construction on a new church sometime this month with a goal of completing the project by next spring. Urbaniak says that the church will have a modern gothic design while being accessible and energy efficient. He adds that the church will be a community hub that will host a variety of activities including language classes and choral and folk music. The parish council is applying for a building permit today, and Urbaniak says that all insurance issues have been resolved.
