RCMP say one of two bomb threats affecting a plane at the Halifax Stanfield Airport yesterday came from within Nova Scotia.
The WestJet flight was getting ready to leave Halifax for Calgary when the threat came in at around 6:40, yesterday morning.
The 69 passengers and six crew members returned to the terminal while police searched the plane.
After nothing was found, the plane was allowed to leave just before 10:30 AM.
Earlier, yesterday morning a flight from New York City to Istanbul, Turkey, was diverted to Halifax after another bomb threat was made.
The plane landed in Halifax shortly before 1:00 in the morning and 256 passengers and crew members safely left the plane.
A police search of that plane also turned up nothing and it later continued on its journey to Istanbul.
Police say they don’t believe both threats are related and are continuing to investigate.
Last week, an Air France flight bound for Paris was diverted to Halifax after a bomb threat but nothing was found on that plane either.
