Police Say Missing Calgary Girl Found Dead

Police say they believe they’ve found the body of missing five-year-old Calgary girl Taliyah Marsman.

Calgary Police have also charged 46 year-old Edward Downey with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Taliyah and her mother Sara Baillie.

Police issued an Amber Alert for the girl after Baillie’s body was found in her Calgary apartment on Monday night.

Police say Taliyah’s body was found shortly after 10:00, last night, about eight kilometres east of Calgary.

They add Downey knew the girl and her mother as well as her father, Colin Marsman, who’s originally from Halifax.

They go on to say Baillie was the likely target in the double homicide but add they don’t yet have a motive.

They also say Downey has an extensive criminal history and showed limited co-operation during their investigation.

He’ll be held in custody until a court appearance on Wednesday.
