Regional Police say an explosive device has been safely disposed of by the military’s explosive disposal unit after being found at a business in Sydney today.
Police say a grenade was found at the business on Pitt St. this morning.
The explosive disposal unit arrived in Sydney from the Halifax area this afternoon.
A loud bang was heard in downtown Sydney at around 5:00 this evening and a police officer tells The Coast a robot was used to do a controlled detonation.
Police say evacuations have been lifted and the area has been re-opened to the public.
They say an investigation continues.
