Police Officer’s Trial Delayed

A Cape Breton Regional Police officer’s domestic assault trial has been pushed back to September.

A trial was scheduled to resume today for 35 year-old Kristopher Karl Planetta, who is facing two counts of assault.

Planetta’s trial was adjourned in March after the Crown brought forward new evidence in the case.

Planetta’s wife has already testified her husband pushed her on one occasion and bruised her arms on another.

The court also heard Planetta told his fellow officers his wife hit him when he was arrested for assault.

The trial is now scheduled to resume on September 10th.

Planetta has been released on conditions.
