Police Kept Busy During Storm

Regional Police were kept busy during the blizzard that hit yesterday and the night before.

Police say a 57 year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was pinned by a privately owned front-end loader in Glace Bay, yesterday afternoon.

They add they got the call to 11 Dominion Street at around 2:00.

The provincial Department of Labour has been notified.

Meanwhile, a 42 year-old Glace Bay man is due in Sydney court today after police say they were involved in a short vehicle chase in Glace Bay on Monday night.

They add the man was arrested at a home on Cadegan Drive after the chase, and the home was later searched.

Police say they seized cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia in the search.

They add a plain clothes officer suffered a serious cut to his finger during the incident.

Police say Elliot Gerard Gouthro faces a number of charges including Assault with weapon, assault causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of Motor vehicle, resisting arrest as well as drug offences.

 

 

And at around 11:00 on Monday night, Police say they got called to Pierce Street Dairy on Pierce Street in North Sydney after an intrusion alarm went off.

They add officers found that some items were taken from the store when they arrived on the scene.

They go on to say a 49 year-old Northside man who’s known to police was arrested nearby.

He faces charges of Break and Enter, possession of stolen property and mischief.
