Police Issue Warning About Canada Revenue Agency Scam

Regional Police are warning about e-mail and telephone scams where people claim to be working for the Canada Revenue Agency.

They add someone in the CBRM recently reported getting a call from a man claiming to be a representative of the RCMP, calling on behalf of Revenue Canada.

They go on to say the caller told the man an error in a tax return required an immediate payment or an arrest warrant would be issued.

The caller also told the man to buy the value of the amount owing in STEAM cards and to provide the validation numbers on the back.

The cards are used by gamers to buy online games and consoles.

Police say the Canada Revenue Agency does not conduct its business in this manner.
