Police Continue To Seek Information On Missing Baddeck Man

RCMP are continuing to ask for the public’s help finding a missing man from Baddeck.

80-year-old Richard Mahoney was last seen on Thursday on Jessica Wong Lane in Baddeck.

RCMP say the search for Mahoney was suspended on Sunday following a search involving an estimated 2,000 volunteer hours, covering over a hundred kilometres of forest, trails, shorelines and roads.

The search included areas around Baddeck and Sydney, and involved rescue teams from Cape Breton and the mainland, as well as police and a Department of Natural Resources helicopter.

Police say there’s no sign of foul play at this time.

Mahoney is described as 5-feet-8 inches tall and 140 pounds with grey hair and blue eyes and a dark bruise on his right elbow.

He may be wearing dark coloured shorts, a white and blue plaid or checkered shirt and moccasin style shoes.

Anyone with information on where Mahoney is is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
