Police Await Autopsy Results in Baby’s Death

Cape Breton Regional Police are still waiting for the results of an autopsy on a five-month old boy who died in Sydney Mines on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Desiree Vassallo says that the results should be available within the next few days.

Police were alerted to the infant’s death after getting a call from a home on Windsor Street at around the noon.

Staff Sergeant Ken O’Neill says the case is not considered a homicide and that it’s protocol for Major Crime to get involved and follow up on the investigation.

He adds an officer will remain outside the home where the death occurred until the autopsy results are known.
